Completion of building work; as there was only one road from Weitental Valley via the Kieneralm to Meransen, the Meransen-Mühlbach cable car had to cope with transporting all sorts of things, including bricks, cement, wood and other building materials. |

Thanks to Erika Lechner’s victory in the luge at the Olympic Games in Grenoble, the inhabitants of Meransen finally had their wish fulfilled: the plan for a road to be built between Mühlbach and Meransen, put forward by the state president at the time. |
